Adam Soliman is a founder of Charbrew which sells teas blended with fruit pieces or whole leaves and includes varieties such as Black tea with Sunflower Blossoms, Whole Leaf English Breakfast and Chrabrew Original blends targeted at younger drinkers. Adam came up with the idea for Charbrew when he was frustrated at the variety of teas on offer and opened the tea importer and blender. Now the business, which supplies 20 major retailers including Sainsbury’s, Booths and TK Maxx is branching out abroad by selling to TK’s American sister, TJ Maxx and the French chain Casino.

Building a fledgeling tea business from his parents’ house was a far cry from 21-year-old Adam Soliman’s dream of the City trading floor. But, just two years after graduating in the thick of the worst recession in a generation, the young entrepreneur now heads one of the UK’s fastest-growing speciality tea brands.

Dien Curtis and Gareth Williams are the co-founders of an exciting urban agriculture startup - Hive Urban Farms, which grow gourmet oyster mushrooms that are used by some of the local area’s best restaurants. Their produce currently features in dishes at Hispi in Didsbury, TNQ Restaurant and Bar and Fress in the city’s Northern Quarter, with chefs heralding the quality of the product and benefits of a local supplier. The product can be harvested at short notice and delivered to the customer within the hour.
