Overview

We cordially invite you to take part in our TiE New York's monthly Startup OMN event on Tuesday, December 8 starting 6:00 PM, for an exciting night of virtual networking and pitching!

To pitch at this event, you don’t have to be a TiE member, you just need to be an entrepreneur or an aspiring entrepreneur with a passion to share your idea that may change our world. You will be given a safe entrepreneurial friendly virtual space to deliver an elevator pitch for 2 minutes in presence of a group of mentors, angel investors, venture capitalists, startup-focused service providers, and a very supportive community of successful entrepreneurs.

Each attendee must register in order to be invited on the online conference bridge exclusively created for this event. For our final Open Mic Night of 2020, Pam Marrone of Chestnut Bio Advisors will be our featured speaker.

Dr. Marrone has more than 30 years experiences in building natural product bioag companies from start-ups to successful organizations.  She founded AgraQuest in 1995, which was acquired by Bayer for nearly $500 million.  Her next company, Marrone Bio Innovations, which she founded in 2006, was the first woman-led public company in the AgTech sector.  She took Marrone Bio public in 2013 (NASDAQ:MBII), built the company to a high growth stage and with high gross margins. She was recently named “Most Admired CEO, Distinguished Career Award” by the Sacramento Business Journal.  Since retiring from Marrone Bio in August 2020, her focus is advising young AgTech, AgBio, nutraceutical, and healthcare companies -  five founded by women.  She is currently Executive Chair and Partner of Primary BioAg Innovations and Global BioAg Linkages, founded to help AgTech/BioAg innovators scale and succeed in market adoption.  Before Bio, she started and led the AgBio company AgraQuest, Inc.  Before AgraQuest, she was founding president and business unit head for Entotech, Inc., a Novo Nordisk subsidiary.  She started her career after graduate school at Monsanto, where she led the Insect Biology group, working on pioneering biotechnology projects.

In June 2020, she completed her 4-year term as an alumni-elected Trustee of Cornell University. She is Treasurer of the Association for Women in Science, board member of the Foundation for Food and Ag Research and is on the UC Davis Ag and Environmental Sciences Dean’s Advisory Council. She holds more than 60 US and 400 foreign patents and is a Fellow of Association for the Advancement of Science. She has a B.S. in entomology with Honors and Distinction from Cornell and a Ph.D. in entomology from NCSU.

If you plan to speak and pitch your start-up, please do register as a "Presenter”. Note that as speaker in a virtual forum, you will need to upload your pitch deck during the registration process. Your pitch deck shouldn’t exceed 6 slides. You may please review/download the pitch deck template here. If your start-up is speaking but you are not the key speaker, register as a non-member or member (whichever applies).

All attendees and speakers should log in sharp by 6:00 pm on December 8. Again - you don’t need to be member to attend the event, and the event is free. And you are always welcome to join our ever-growing coveted community of entrepreneurs by visiting our website.
