We invite you to TiE New York's monthly Startup Open Mic Night event for an exciting night of networking and pitching! You don't want to miss out.  This event is not your typical meet and greet.

You don’t have to be a TiE member to speak, you just need to be a startup with the passion to give your elevator pitch for 90 seconds in front of a group of angel investors, venture capitalists, startup-focused service based providers, mentors, and a large community of other successful entrepreneurs.

Please note that should we need to limit the number of speakers due to high demand our members will be given priority to speak.  But don't fear, its easy to join our organization!  You can become a TiE member by signing up on our website at ny.tie.org

This month we have two Venture Capitalists/Entreprenuers for our featured speakers:

Michael Yoon, Managing Partner, Yono Ventures LLC & Operating Partner of RueOne Investments and Suman Lal, co-founder of Scientific Innovations (a portfolio that has spun off six companies) share their stories and advice as investors funding startups.

Featured Speakers

Michael Yoon, Yono Ventures & RueOne Investments
Michael Yoon, investor, advisor and CTO will give his insight on how startups can raise capital from Angel rounds to Series A. He is Managing Partner of Yono Ventures and is Operating Partner at RueOne Investments.

Yono Ventures makes pre-seed and seed investments in startup companies and bases investment decisions on quality of technology, product, process, management team and business model.  Deal flow is sourced through relationships with accelerators and investment firms.

Michael has worked closely with companies he chooses to back and has developed a trusted role with access to observe development/engineering (Github), product (JIRA), operational communications (Slack) and financials (data room) for several months prior to an investment decision.

Michael has an engineering degree, an MBA and has held various executive positions at Fortune 500 companies. He has also been a founder, board member and executive at several startups.

Suman Lal, Scientific Innovations

Suman Lal is an entrepreneur based in NYC. He co-founded a start-up studio/business laboratory, Scientific Innovations, designed to test ideas and build prototypes for technology and business models (between Singapore and New York), validate them in the market and spin those with the highest potential off as independent entities. Over three years, the first studio portfolio has spun off six companies in the areas of food, cosmetics & healthcare.

The diversified portfolios in a “studio” are structured as an alternative investment vehicle that has a reduced risk profile compared to investments in individual startups during the early stages of venture creation.

Suman is an MD by training in India. He earned a MS in Genetics and PhD in Breast Cancer in Singapore then worked in sales for five years in SE Asia before completing an MBA from MIT as a Sloan Fellow.
