Overview

We kickoff our 2019 Mentor Program by getting to know mentors and mentees in a friendly open setting on January 22.  We welcome all member mentees, mentors as well as those of our community who are interested to come to our first session to learn about how the program.

Over the past months, we re-designed our mentoring program to be mentee driven.  That means we match mentees to mentors with the mentee's needs foremost in mind during process.   Many of our recent mentees came to us as presenters at our Startup Open Mic Nights.

The mentor program prepares entrepreneurs for the next stage of their startup development as well as for pitch competitions and meetings with financing opportunities. The winner of our last pitch competition, co-founder and CEO, Sam Bhattacharyya of Vectorly pitched at our Open Mic Night where they first heard about the Pitch Competition and applied. Vectorly was one of the final seven startups selected. All seven finalists went through our mentoring program guided by their team champions (Charter Member Mentors) and perfected their pitch for the big night.

If you are interested in becoming a mentee or mentor please register below as this will be the first step in our effort to make fitting matches.

About the Mentor Program

TiE New York's one on one mentoring program, "Mentor Match" welcomes our members looking for startup guidance to be mentored by our experienced Charter Members.

At our January meeting we will interview members interested in being matched with their own mentor.  Members will be asked to rank their potential Mentors after meeting and discussing options.  The mentorship committee will match potential mentees and mentors after the meeting and Mentees will be introduced via email after their matches are made.

After being matched, Mentors and Mentees will be responsible for meeting on their own time in subsequent months.  We will also host follow up meetings, speakers and workshops to supplement the hands-on access to mentors.  The events will be predominately on third Tuesdays.

Mentoring is a benefit for our active members.  If you are not yet a member you are welcome to register for our January 22 event.  But to be matched with a mentor you must join TiE New York first (membership is $100/year and you can join by signing up at ny.tie.org).

About our Mentors

Our mentors are volunteers whose goal is to give back.  They are successful founders and investors running their own businesses and funds and they have agreed to volunteer their time for up to four hours per month.
