Biography
Serial entrepreneur, Steve Cody, has started 15 local and national businesses in the service, rental, e-commerce and retail markets which have generated over 250 million in sales. Steve launched his long career with humble roots; he was 15 years old when he turned his entrepreneurial aspirations into reality with just a squeegee, a bucket, and a dream. Steve is the Founder and CEO of The Better Software Company, a company grown from the belief that there had to be a BETTER way to power franchises.
Steve is on a mission to help franchises by removing barriers created by current systems and take their business to the next level, giving them a better life too.
Richard Deboer, CEO & Co-Founder, Rianta Solutions Inc.
Biography
Richard deBoer is CEO and co-founder of Rianta Solutions, an Ottawa based semiconductor design company delivering next generation solutions for the data-centre market. Prior to Rianta, Richard was CEO and co-founder of Galazar Networks (acquired by Exar) and CEO and co-founder of Sybarus Technologies (acquired by Lucent Microelectronics). For 20 years, Richard has been helping to start and build industry leaders in the semiconductor market.
Richard began his career at Bell-Northern Research where he helped architect and implement Nortel's market leading 2.5Gb/s and 10Gb/s SONET systems. These systems captured 50-90% market share in optical communications with a peak of $1B/month in product revenue during the early 2000's. After BNR, Richard moved to the USA for 5 years working on optical products for Fujitsu and Lucent's Bell Labs.
Outside of work, Richard enjoys woodworking, Japanese design, travelling, photography and dog sledding.
Eli Fathi, CEO Mindbridge AI
Biography
CEO of Mindbridge AI, he is assembling a world class A-team to have a
big impact both in business, but also the communities they serve.Co-founder
& co-CEO of Fluidware Corporation from 2008 to 2014 until the acquisition
of the company by SurveyMonkey & worked on integration until April 2015. An
Internet software company, Fluidware offered Software as a service (SaaS)
online applications based on collaborative feedback with 2 products:
Fluidsurveys; online survey tool & FluidReview; online Application
management tool.
In 1986, Eli founded Applied Silicon Inc. Canada to provide
engineering consulting services. Following an investment from Newbridge
Networks in 1996, the company (Telexis) shifted focus to video over IP
solutions, growing to 180 employees. Telexis was acquired in May 2000 &
became March Networks. Eli also founded in 2002 OrbitIQ Inc., a
business accelerator company with globally-deployed channels to market.
Eli is involved with the community & high tech community in particular
by serving on a number of Boards including: Community Foundation Ottawa (CFO)
starting in 2012, Canadian Advanced Technology Association (CATA) from 2006 to
2012 & Alzheimer Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County (ASORC) from 2009 to
2014. Eli also serves on the Board of C-Com, a publicly traded company on
the TSX-V since 2007. On the advisory board of Center for Innovation (CIC) in
Waterloo since 2010. Served on the Ottawa Center for Research & Innovation
(OCRI) from 1999 to 2007, Ottawa Chamber of Commerce (OCC) from 2004 to 2009,
the Ottawa Community Loan Fund (OCLF) Board from 2008 to 2012 & 1 year in
2009 on the Editorial Board of the Ottawa Business Journal. In 2004 was Recipient
of the Order of Ottawa for Economic Development, & was the Recipient of
OCRI 2004 Civic Entrepreneur of the Year award. Chairperson of the 2001
NetVideoWorld. Since 2008, Eli organized & chaired yearly
Corporate & Community Social Responsibility Conferences at Algonquin
College in Ottawa www.ccsr-conference.com. Eli Co-authored
a book on Software project management & had 12 publications.
