This introductory course to technical entrepreneurship differentiates itself from entrepreneurship courses taught in business schools, as it emphasizes the role of technology & technical innovation, compared to marketing, supply chain & finance which is emphasized in business schools. It is a participative course where students will have to carry out assignments, in virtual group setting identify a business concept and develop its business model, make individual presentations on different aspects of the business concept and analyze different business cases.
After attending the course students should be able to:
· Understand the logic and mechanics of a business enterprise
· Determine if they have the mind-set & preparation to be an entrepreneur
· Develop an understanding of the entrepreneurial process from conceptual stage to becoming an established business
· Know about stages of technology evolution, product and business life cycles
· Develop an understanding of business functions essential for success of technology enterprises.
Student Success
Students should complete assigned readings before class, be prepared for discussions, complete all individual and group assignments in a timely manner. They should be self-motivated, respectful and interested in improving their critical thinking, communication and group interaction skills.
