The first of such series is planned for Thursday 19th November from 5.30PM to 6:30PM where we are bringing to you an illustrious group of founders from different sectors to speak about their business models and technology that is helping them scale up rapidly.

Sanjay Mehta

Sanjay Mehta is a 49-year-old technology evangelist and an entrepreneur turned VC. He is known as the 100X investor with the Midas touch. Sanjay achieved notoriety in the media for his first cheque investments in Oyo Rooms & Block.One - 2 Unicorns in his portfolio. He has been a TiE Board Member for over three years before founding 100X.VC, a 2019 SEBI registered fund sponsored by Mehta Ventures Family Office. 100X goal is to invest first cheques in 100 seed stage India domiciled startups every year. Through 100X.VC He is bringing the revolutionary iSAFE note (India Simple Agreement for Future Equity) to India which simplifies seed stage fundraising. In the past, as a private investor, he had invested in over 130+ global startups. He has an outstanding portfolio performance with 103% IRR on all funded startups to date vs the industry average of 30%. His most recent exit was LogiNext, where Sanjay created deal syndicate which generated multiples of 16X returns for all the angel investors included in his deal. Besides investing, Sanjay is also a partner at CORE Media which is India's largest IT-Media company. Sanjay was also a part of the reality show PitchRight Season 1 and Season 2 in which founders pitched him their ideas for 45 seconds in Bombay Stock Exchange elevator. Karan Kirpalani

Vice President - Products & Services, Netmagic

Karan is the Vice President - Product Management at Netmagic, an NTT Communications Company. Joining Netmagic when the company was in its nascent stage, Karan has played two pivotal roles for nearly two decades, and has been part of the core team of the organization and has worn many hats – from business development to product management and product marketing. Prior to Netmagic, Karan was associated with ICICI Bank as part of the online content and web application team. Karan is a graduate in Economics from Mumbai University. He is a guest lecturer at Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, enlightening engineering students on cloud and other IT infrastructure technologies.

 

Karan’s dedication to what he does and business insight makes him a visionary and thought leader in the field. He is an avid reader, and has written articles, whitepapers and blogs on various technologies.

Sharad Sanghi is the CEO, Global Data Centers and Cloud Infrastructure (India), NTT Ltd. Sharad Sanghi exemplifies what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur, to generate returns for all stakeholders, and be deeply connected in everything one does. His passion and commitment to deliver value to clients is evident in the way he built a customer-focused service organization called Netmagic in July 1998, which now has the backing of NTT, a Fortune 500 company.  

 

Sharad is responsible for growing company to be India’s leading Managed Hosting and Cloud Service Provider, with over 1200 employees, and 9 high-density and hyperscale data centers delivering services to over 2000 enterprise customers. 

 

Sharad is considered a pioneer in the Indian cloud computing space, and his vision has helped company become a leader in the Public Cloud services market in India.

 

On the business side, Sharad led the company through 3 successful VC funding rounds with Nexus Venture Partners, Fidelity, Cisco Systems and Nokia Growth Partners. He led the 2012 acquisition the company’s majority stake by NTT Communication Japan - a first in the Indian data centre market.

 

Sharad is an industry veteran with over 20 years of extensive experience in developing Internet backbone infrastructure and providing Internet services. He is also Part time Non-official Director on the Board of Bharat Electronics Limited, appointed by the Government of India.

 

During a six-year stint in the US, Sharad worked for Unified Network Management Architecture Group at AT&T Bell Labs, the Backbone Engineering Group of NSFNET (ANS) and the Router Systems Development Group of Advantis (IBM Global Network). He has also helped Merrill Lynch and Bankers Trust design and deploy Wide Area Networks.

 

Sharad is an Electrical Engineer from IIT Bombay and holder of a Master’s degree from Columbia University, New York.

Have consistent track record of delivering business results and successful products that involve multiple cross-functional teams.

Before joining BookMyShow, was working as head of Engineering with Near.co and head of SW Engineering with Nissan Digital, to drive Digital Transformation effort.

Prior to that, at Hotstar, as VP of Engineering, heading the Bangalore Dev Center, led engineering teams responsible for User Management, Subscriptions, Payment Platform, DevOps/Infrastructure and Quality Engineering. Responsible for defining and promoting strong cultural values and build a world class engineering organization.

Prior to Hotstar, worked as Sr Engineering Manager with Apple, USA to lead the digital transformation of legacy manufacturing data analysis platforms to strategic big data analysis platform to handle petabytes of manufacturing test data. Prior to this effort, also worked as a Senior Architect Manager on Apple HR Employee System Transformation effort for around 1.5Yrs to lay the core foundation for digital transformation. As part of these efforts built and led different offshore development centers in India as well.

Before joining Apple in 2013, worked as a VP - Senior Eng Manager and Strategist for Bank of America to transform legacy EAI based payment transfer platform to SOA based platform to support $3T transfer per year. Also led the innovation to implement solutions to streamline development effort across Consumer Banking Technology development teams. I also had to manage my offshore teams in Bank of America, Hyderabad as well. 


Anjali Bansal
Founder, Avana Capital  

Anjali is founder of Avaana Capital, a fund platform that invests in innovation led business models to achieve impact at scale. She was previously global Partner and Managing Director with TPG Growth PE, Spencer Stuart India Founder CEO, and strategy consultant with McKinsey and Co in New York and India. Anjali Bansal is former non executive Chairperson of Dena Bank where she successfully led the resolution of the stressed bank. She also chaired NITI Aayog Investment Council for Fintech and Women Entrepreneurship. She has been an active investor and mentor in companies including MakeMyTrip, Nykaa, Safari, Alphavector, Lenskart, UrbanClap, Darwinbox, Loantap. She started her career as an engineer. She serves as an independent non executive director on the boards of Siemens Ltd, Tata Power, Voltas, Kotak AMC, and Delhivery. She is on the Advisory Board of the Columbia University Global Centers, South Asia. Manish Bhatia,

President - Technology, Analytics and capabilities, Lendingkart

 

Manish Bhatia is the President of Technology, Analytics and Capabilities at Lendingkart. He is responsible for building a scalable technology stack for the company and bettering operational agility, risk management, data and analytics, while driving strategic efficiency and improving overall customer acquisition and experience as well as business growth.

 

Manish aims to draw better insights from big and complex data sets and leverage innovative technology and digital platforms to enhance Lendingkart’s operations capability, customer and transaction growth rate.

 

Bringing over 22 years of industry experience, Manish’s expertise in software development, incubating new services and developing critical digital products will contribute to Lendingkart's vision of promoting financial inclusion in this country. Prior to Lendingkart, he has worked with Amazon as a Chief Technology Officer and steered all the tech and software development for their India payments business. He also headed the World-Wide eCommerce Platform group in India in his previous assignment at Amazon, bringing multiple innovations to the fore. Before joining Amazon, he has also worked with a couple of startups, FedEx and JP Morgan Chase.

Viral Mehta President, Engineering PocketAces  



Viral Mehta is VP of Engineering at Pocket Aces. His team has built a virality predictor based on real-time user interaction and engagement data which automates audience targeting for publisher content on Facebook. This led to a 65% reduction in CPC and CPM spends across all Pocket Aces properties. Subsequently, he took over operational and technical architecture of Loco (Pocket Aces' fastest growing brand), enabling the service to scale from 2000 DAUs January 2018 to 350,000 DAUs in July 2018. This included not only scaling the team, but also building redundant systems to automate scale. After joining Loco, he built and managed the platform's engineering team. He has worked on Loco's hyper growth plan, including its redesign and introduction of casual gaming and fantasy gaming. He is now leading Loco's product team to bring game live-streaming to the platform. 

 

Before Pocket Aces, at Microsoft HQ, he worked on code that every Windows-based device in the world uses every day. In his 11 years with the company, he was part of the founding team of Hololens, the Windows Phone team, and Microsoft's USB committee. He hopes his next claim to fame is his work on Loco at Pocket Aces. 

 

He also holds a MS in Computer Engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park.
