Ask the Entrepreneurs Series

TiE Seattle is excited to launch a new series as part of Startup on Tap. In this series we will have a moderated Q&A session with panelists on topics related to entrepreneurs. Topics will include -  growing your startup, funding your startup and successful exit strategies. We will collect questions from attendees during the initial networking time so that we can structure the discussion and aim the questions to the panelists with the most relevant experience.

We are excited to launch this series with the following 3 panelists from our Charter Member Group for our August session : Gillian Muessig, James Newell and Rahul Sahgal.

Gillian Muessig: Gillian is the CEO of Outlines Venture Group, which funds idea and early stage impact investments. She is the cofounder of both Moz (the world’s most popular search marketing software) and brettapproved (the fastest growing booking site for travelers with disabilities and mobility challenges) and former te...ch advisor to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Gillian consults privately with investors and founders and speaks worldwide on the entrepreneurial experience, emerging markets, and the impact of global trends on valuations and startup activity. A board member at companies in four continents, Gillian has helped more than 250 companies around the world to launch, grow, pivot and thrive.

James Newell: Partner, Voyager Capital.http://www.voyagercapital.com/team/jamesnewell. James has been working with high growth technology companies as an adviser and investor since 2005 and focuses on early stage and seed investments... in the Pacific Northwest. He has served as a board member or observer at Casper, DoubleVerify, General Assembly, Sauce Labs and Zerto, among others.

Prior to joining Voyager, James worked for Institutional Venture Partners (IVP), a later stage VC based in Menlo Park. While with IVP, James worked on investments in AlienVault, Carbonite (NASDAQ: CARB), Casper, Checkr, DoubleVerify, General Assembly, Kayak (Acquired: PCLN), LegalZoom, Prosper, Sauce Labs, SoFi and Zerto.

James previously worked with Maveron, a leading consumer focused venture firm based in Seattle and San Francisco and in business development for Zulily, a Maveron portfolio company. Earlier in his career, he worked in the Technology Investment Banking group of Bank of America Merrill Lynch. While with Bank of America, James was involved in strategic and financing transactions for a variety of companies including Aricent, AOL, Corel, Open Text, RF Micro Devices, SGI, Symantec, Tibco, and VMware

Rahul Sahgal: Head of Data & Analytics Practice at LiquidHub

Rahul was founder of Annik, growing the company from market research services to be a global leader in data and analytics solutions. With over 20 years’ experience, Rahul is a recognized industry expert and a pioneer in the KPO space.
