Joined by Varkki Chacko, Arvind Sanger, and Deepinder Bhatia, CM Sandeep Tyagi will lead a discussion on the current investment atmosphere. What does the environment look like post-COVID? What are people investing in now?

Arvind Sanger founded Geosphere Capital, a global long-short fund manager investing in natural resources, industrial and Indian equities in 2007. Between 2002 and 2007, Mr. Sanger was a Portfolio Manager at SAC Capital, investing in a similar fashion. Prior to his tenure at SAC, Mr. Sanger had a 15-year career as a top-ranked sell-side oil services and equipment analyst at a number of firms, including Deutsche Bank and DLJ, among others. Mr. Sanger graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, with a B. Tech in 1984 and received his MBA from Tulane University in 1987. Mr. Sanger is on the board of the Alexander Hamilton Society and Pratham USA.

Varkki Chacko is the Chief Investment Officer and the Managing Principal of Credit Capital Investments (CCI). CCI is actively involved in investment opportunities across the capital structure with a focus on the publicly traded markets in the US and India.

Varkki completed his M.B.A. in Finance from New York University, a Ph.D. in Polymer Science and Engineering from the University of Massachusetts and a B.E. (Hons) and M.S. (Hons) from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani, India. Varkki is an Advisory Board member of the College of Natural Sciences at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Deepinder Bhatia is the Founding Partner and Portfolio Manager of Bayard Asset Management (BAM) based in Princeton, NJ. Launched in April 2011, BAM manages about $150 million in equity assets via a globally focused hedge fund and an emerging markets collective investment trust. BAM's investment approach is concentrated, long biased, value oriented with a preference for sustainably growing dividends. From 2004 to 2010, Deepinder was an Investment Manager and Partner at Ironbound Capital, a global equity long-short hedge fund with peak assets of about $1 billion. Deepinder joined the buy-side in 1994 as an Investment Analyst specializing in Asian equities at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers (now BlackRock). His education includes an MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics, MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor in Commerce from Bombay University (1987). He is Charterholder from the CFA Institute, and a Chartered Accountant from The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Deepinder is a current member of the Investment Committee of Princeton Day School's endowment, and a Founder Charter-Member of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TIE-NJ). An avid hiker and cyclist, Deepinder and his family have lived in Princeton, New Jersey since 1994.  

Sandeep Tyagi is the Chairman of Estee Capital, an investment management and brokerage firm. Estee runs a quant arbitrage fund in India with a market leading 10+ year track record. In 2019, Estee was awarded the recognition of Best Institutional Broker and enjoyed a double-digit market share in many segments of Indian capital markets. He was the founder of Inductis, an analytics firm, and part of the founding team at MMG, a strategy consulting firm. Both companies enjoyed a successful exit. Mr. Tyagi is a Board Member of Spectramedix and serves as a Senior Advisor to Internex Capital and Strand Lifesciences. Mr. Tyagi holds an MBA from Columbia Business School and a B-Tech in Computer Science from IIT, Delhi.
