Most recently, Sheng founded Acorn Labs in order to solve some of the biggest challenges facing application developers. Prior to this, Sheng founded Rancher Labs in 2014, the most popular enterprise Kubernetes platform that was acquired by SUSE in 2020. SUSE is a global leader in innovative, reliable, and enterprise-grade open-source solutions; it is relied upon by more than 60% of the Fortune 500 to power their mission-critical workloads. Prior to this, he founded cloud.com in 2008 to help companies build on-premise infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) clouds like Amazon EC2. The company was acquired by Citrix in July 2011.

About Sheng Liang

Sheng Liang is currently the founder of Acorn Labs and was previously President of Engineering and Innovation at SUSE where he led SUSE’s global team of engineers, and is responsible for the rapid growth of SUSE’s expanding portfolio from the enterprise Linux operating system to the Rancher container management platform. Prior to SUSE, Sheng was Co-Founder and CEO of Rancher Labs, and CTO of the Cloud Platforms group at Citrix Systems via acquisition of his company Cloud.com. He started as a Staff Engineer in Java Software at Sun Microsystems, where he worked on the Java Virtual Machine (JVM). Sheng has a B.S. from the University of Science and Technology of China and a Ph.D. from Yale University. He lives in the United States.
