Dr. Surinder K Tikoo - Co founder & Director Tierra Seed Science Pvt. Ltd.

Profile:

Dr. Surinder Tikoo has 50+ years’ experience as a successful teacher, research & development manager & vegetable breeder in public & pvt sector.  He has also published over 50 research & review papers including having one patent to his name. He has developed several nationally & internationally released varieties & hybrids as a breeder of Tomato & Okra.  Many of these have been market leading in their respective segments including the first bacterial wilt-resistant tomato varieties & hybrids in India.

Mr. Tikoo has served as Vice President and Asia Pacific Lead for Vegetable Research, Global Research Lead for Peppers & member of Global Vegetable Development Leadership Team (GVDLT) at Syngenta.

Mr. Tikoo is connected with major associations like the Society for Promotion of Horticulture, Bangalore, and is a member of several advisory committees of Govt of India, APSA, as well as being a supervisory Board member Access to Seed Index, Netherlands.

Over the last five years he has written and spoken at various forums on the way forward in the area of agriculture research and productivity as well as training younger professionals in commercial plant breeding.
