Robert Buhler
Robert Buhler leads Newport Ventures LLC, a Raleigh, North Carolina-based venture company that invests in long-term growth companies. Newport Ventures is the holding company of BAERING, a Raleigh-based strategic communications, and advertising firm, and previously acquired ABAP, a Boston-based vintage auto parts supplier that was divested in 2013. As chairman of BAERING, Robert advises executives on business issues, community outreach, and strategic introductions.
But it’s more than his business-operations chops that make us proud to have Rob as our Advocate in Chief. It’s his determined work in the Raleigh community, where he serves on the board for The First Tee of The Triangle, Wake Education Partnership and the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce. He also volunteers for the Food Bank, StepUp Ministry, and Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. He is also an advocate for JDRF, of which he was the 2017 JDRF Gala Honoree.
So, yeah, Rob’s got a lot of passion. But what else would you expect from a guy who earned his 26.2 sticker before he could even drive the car to put it on?
Robert is a graduate of The University of Utah and Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management. He resides in Raleigh with his wife and two children.
