Objective: To discuss the tax implications of cross border investments

Event Description:

With many wealth families having a more global perspective, there has been an increased focus on cross border diversification and alternative investments. These investments require advanced planning, and often have a significant tax implications for the investor. For Indian residents and NRIs, there are additional considerations related to FEMA and LRS regulations. Grant Thornton Bharat LLP and LCR Capital Partners will be discussing how to prepare for making an offshore transaction, and the impact it may have on your family’s tax liability at home and overseas.

Tax Partner at Grant Thornton Bharat LLP

Sridhar is a tax partner in Grant Thornton LLP where he is responsible for the tax practice of Chennai and Kochi offices. He also responsible for the Transaction Tax practice of the firm for South India. Sridhar has over 24 years post qualification experience in tax and regulatory matters. A significant part of his career was spent in Delhi where he gained expertise in dealing with complex and varied tax and regulatory matters of multinational corporations. He shifted to Chennai in 2006 and prior to joining the Firm, ran a boutique consulting firm which specialized in tax, regulatory and M&A functions.

Shilpa Menon 

Senior Director - India, LCR Capital Partners

Shilpa Menon is Senior Director, India at LCR Capital Partners. Based in Mumbai, Shilpa is responsible for LCR's growth in India, including expanding and managing LCR's channel partnerships and deepening LCR's engagement with existing clients and prospects in the region. Shilpa has around 12 years of industry experience across wealth management, investment banking, financial writing and content marketing. Prior to joining LCR, she was Vice President, Products & Advisory at Avendus Wealth Management in India, where she oversaw the firm's global investment products category for HNIs. Shilpa started her career as an investment banking analyst at Nomura's India office (erstwhile Lehman Brothers), working on deals in the Asia ex Japan M&A and Financial Sponsors space. Shilpa has an MBA from IIT Madras and a B.E from Mumbai University. She is also a CFA charter holder.
