This July TiE London partners with legal firm, Wedlake Bell to offer you expert insider information on Cyber Security and the protection of your valuable trademarks.

These two short talks include canapes, drinks and networking at Wedlake Bell's Head offices. Your speakers for the evening are James Castro-Edwards looking at Cyber Security and Michael Gardner discussing the importance of trademarks and how we protect them.

Cyber Security is a large and growing concern from home to big business right through to the country as a whole. James will advise on the threat landscape talking about the types of threat you should be looking out for as well as threat actors. Data protection law will be covered too with regards to it's imminent reform and the emergence of the tort misuse of private information. James' talk will also touch upon how SME's can protect themselves with practical considerations and solutions.

James Castro-Edwards 

James advises organisations in the private, public and third sectors on data protection issues. His experience includes managing global data protection compliance projects for multinational companies, providing advice on discrete data protection issues and advising companies that have suffered a data breach. He has also developed and delivered data protection audit and training programs to a wide variety of operators. 

Michael Gardener

Michael advises clients in relation to disputes involving commercial, IT and in particular intellectual property matters. This includes trademarks, passing off, copyright, databases, designs, patents, confidential information, privacy and disputes involving IT contracts.

Michael is experienced in all forms of IP dispute resolution including litigation in the High Court and IPEC including the obtaining of urgent injunctive relief. His practice includes anti-counterfeiting work (including in the online space) and advising on parallel imports.  He also advises on brand protection generally and conduct trade mark prosecution work and domain name dispute resolution.

He has recently been widely quoted in the national press and appeared on ITV's Good Morning Britain discussing the celebrity privacy super injunction.
