Overview

Annual Investment Outlook Panel, 2019 -

2018 was a banner year for venture capital investment, with numerous new unicorns, countless $100 million venture financings, a bounce in VC-backed IPOs and best year for venture backed startup sales. 2019 starts on the heels of a record 2018 with over 230 startups in the tech IPO pipeline including highly anticipated IPOs for Uber, Lyft, Airbnb, Palantir, Pinterest, Postmates, CrowdStrike, and Zoom. Strong VC returns and rising valuations have brought in non-traditional investors such large pension funds, endowments & foundations, sovereign wealth funds and family offices into VC deals. With every successful startup exit, strong VC returns and good stock market performance, more angel investors are created. On all counts, 2018 had passed 2017 global VC dollar volume record. So what should we expect in 2019?

Venture capital dollars are flowing into Seattle-area companies in near-record numbers too, with most of the cash is going to more mature startups. It was an explosive year for acquisitions and IPOs in Seattle tech news, dominated by Docusign, Smartsheet and Avalara, Qualtrics, Heptio, as well as a dynamic year for new Angel funds backing early stage startups.

Join us at TiE Seattle as we bring together a distinguished panel of technology industry experts at our Annual Investment Outlook Panel to discuss these topics. Our panelists will share their thoughts about key learnings from 2018, what to expect in 2019 and the startup and funding climate for Seattle tech startups.
