Julie grew up in Richland, WA. She graduated from Washington State University with an electrical engineering degree in 1988. She moved to Dallas, Texas and worked at Texas Instruments as a digital systems design engineer. While working as an engineer, she attended the University of Dallas School of Business part time, obtaining her MBA in 1994. She entered a program at TI to send engineers to law school to become patent attorneys, joining the patent department full time after a few years as an engineer. Julie passed the USPTO patent bar in 1992 and worked as a patent agent at TI while in law school. She graduated with her law degree from Southern Methodist University in 1995. In 1998, she left TI to move back to Washington and became the first in-house patent counsel at Sharp Labs of America in Camas, WA. Transitioning to private practice, Julie later joined Marger Johnson and McCollom, a boutique IP firm in Portland. In 2018, Julie and several of the attorneys from Marger Johnson joined Miller Nash. Julie represents large and small corporations, universities, and individual inventors, assisting them in acquiring and licensing their intellectual property, concentrating mostly on patents. She works in electronics, artificial intelligence and machine learning, technologies that intersect between electrical engineering and chemistry, and many others.

He mentors at the TechStars, the Founder Institute, Startout, and the Long Beach Accelerator. He holds an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and a bachelors degree from UC Santa Barbara.

Andrew graduated in mechanical engineering from Queens University in Ontario Canada and spent his early career as a software developer and then product manager working for leading Canadian companies Canadian Pacific and Lavalin Engineering as well as Apple Computer. Andrew then joined Alias Research in Toronto (since acquired by Autodesk) where he led the development of a category defining line of 3D graphics products for the PC and Macintosh. Andrew then moved to Seattle in the mid 1990’s with Microsoft where he served as a product unit manager for a line of consumer imaging and publishing products growing the business from $10 M to 50 M over a 3 year period. Andrew’s next chapter was with Real Networks where he conceived of and built RealArcade into the leading global digital distribution and publishing platform for casual games. Andrew then went on to start Smilebox, a multimedia personal expressions service that connects people around special moments in their lives. Smilebox was acquired by Perion Networks in 2012. Since 2012 Andrew has been primarily focused on angel investing through Wright Ventures. Wright Ventures is a seed stage angel fund which has invested in 31 companies since inception across consumer and BTB segments. The fund is primarily focused in Seattle but also has investments in New York City, Toronto and Vancouver, Canada.
