Kishore Kothapalli, Managing Director
MRL Posnet (P) Limited
Kishore is an alumnus of Kellogg School of Management and IIT-BHU. He did his high school from Hyderabad Public School
Post his MBA at Kellogg, he started his career with International Silver Inc but subsequently moved back to India to support a stressed family business. Over time, he moved the family business from manufacturing building materials to Retail and now retail financial services.
The family business was Modern Roofings, a manufacturer of low cost asphaltic roofing sheets that was started in 1971. Building a rural distribution network across South and East India gave it a major edge over competition but it was wound up in 2008 after the sharp increase in petroleum prices, a key raw material.
Kishore also built India’s first chain of branded footwear stores for Reebok & Nike and exited in 2010. He was one of the bigger distributors for ITC (2000 -2010) but handed over that part of the business to the management team of Modern Roofings on a full ownership basis.
Using his retail knowledge, Kishore entered the fledgling ATM outsourcing industry in 2002 and continues to build, own and manage a network of ATM’s across the country on a Pay-per-Use model.
He then identified Point of Sale payment services as a growing field that was ripe for a shake up due to the legacy systems that all entrenched players were using. He launched MRL Posnet towards the of end of 2009 and exited in 2017.
Kishore is a keen investor in the unlisted market and was primarily focused on real estate and hospitality till 2016. He has now moved to Precision Engineering and Health Care delivery services.
His belief is that his ability to build and nourish thinking teams has been the differentiator in allowing him to dabble in multiple sectors with success.
He is a keen runner, traveler and a quintessential family person living in Hyderabad and Boston.
On the philanthropic side, Kishore works with LV Prasad Eye Institute on developing models for predictive reversible blindness challenges and early intervention. He also works with Hrudaya to enable surgical intervention for children from economically stressed families born with cardiac problems.
