Event Overview:

Having an Idea for a startup is not enough. Execution plays an equally important role in the success of any business. So how do you actually start? TiE Sydney is organising workshops to help you in that. A series of 3 workshops, one every month, where you will be taught and guided in turning your idea into a startup.

Session 1 : July 31, 2019

You’ve got an idea, now it's time to polish it, to shape it.

• Identifying the opportunity. Finding the right niche in the market at the right time is crucial for a startup to kick off.
• You have to come up with the right value proposition for your startup. What is the specific need of the customer that you are fulfilling? And figuring out the customer segments appropriate for your value proposition.
• We’ll help you in identifying the early adopters for your business.

Session 2 : TBA

We’ll guide you in forming the correct business model and the revenue model, customer service and acquisition, and also, an in-depth analysis of the costs and revenues of the startup.

Session 3 : TBA

Learn to expand your portfolio and convert into multiple innovations.

Event Presenter : Dr. Khimji Vaghjiani

• Dr. Khimji Vaghjiani is currently Head of Growth at the Harbour City Labs, an Australian Computer Society Accelerator. He has been a Consultant at the NSW - Data Analytics Centre.
• He has Project, Programme and portfolio management and leadership experience spanning 28 years of enabling ICT / technology/R&D/Innovation experience in large corporate’s, SME’s, University’s, Government and 3 start-up’s, as well as an entrepreneurial mentor, and business advisor to emerging SME’s and NICTA.
• Dr. Khimji ran the Corporate Venture capital unit with Westpac. Assisting companies with lean canvas, minimum viable product development across a range of industry disciplines. Managing technology transfer projects and IP development between universities and SME’s, he has assessed over 1250 MVP and got 280 funded over the last 3 years.
• Dr. Khimji has taught Innovation and Entrepreneurship at most of the Sydney Universities.

Time for each workshop : 2 hours

Materials required from participant: Personal Laptop + wifi

Arrival Time : 5.30pm

Workshop Time : 6.00pm – 8.00pm

Registration fee is $100 for individual session and $200 for the set of all three sessions.
