Ranjith Weeresinghe

I was born in Srilanka and came to the US to pursue my higher education. I completed my Bachelor's and Master's in Computer Science at University of Houston - Clear Lake.

During my Master's I joined Northern Telecom as an Intern and was hired by their research subsidiary Bell-Northern Research in 1991. Since then I have been in the telecom industry.

There have been many carriers highlights but notably, architecting, designing, and deploying the world's first wireless PBX (Public Branch Exchange) on the Nortel Meridian PBX platforms using the North American IS-54B cellular standard in 1998. Then personally installing the Option-11C version of the Meridian PBX at Mr. Bill Gates Washington State Residence within 2 days and giving the first call to be made by his secretary to Mr. Bill Gates who was visiting England.

Today, I serve as the lead for all volunteer work coordination for United Way and Salvation Army projects at the Samsung Plano facility. I lead a Core Networks System Engineering group at Samsung, for 3G, 4G, 5G, and 6G Core networks and is an architect for the FirstNet Mission Critical Push to Talk (MCPTT) FirstNet solution. I am blessed with a beautiful wife and 3 wonderful children.
