Michael Landguth

Michael Landguth started his tenure as President and CEO of the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority in November 2011. As President and CEO, Landguth is responsible for RDU's overall staffing, budgeting, strategic planning and operations. He is a seasoned airport professional with more than 20 years in the industry.

Under his leadership, RDU has developed a strategic business plan to guide the organization's activities and support its growth, completed a major terminal renovation (including LEED certification), launched the airport's first asset management program, and has begun implementation of Vision2040, the airport's 25-year master planning program.

Since 2012, RDU has recruited new airlines including Allegiant, Alaska, Frontier, and Virgin America. The growing airport offers nonstop destinations, including cities such as San Francisco, Austin, Seattle, New Orleans, Salt Lake City, and Los Angeles. Under Landguth's leadership, Delta Air Lines launched daily nonstop service to Paris in May 2016, complementing existing transatlantic service from RDU to London.

For three years in a row, RDU has been recognized as one of the healthiest employers in the region by the Triangle Business Journal. On the financial front, Fitch Ratings also reaffirmed the airport's AA- rating and Moody's reaffirmed its Aa3 rating.

Prior to joining RDU, Landguth served as President and CEO of the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport Authority. There, he secured more than $70 million in grant funding, added three new airlines and eight new nonstop destinations.

Landguth is an Accredited Airport Executive and serves on the board of directors for the Airports Council International North America. In 2016, he was selected as the Airport Revenue News Medium HUB Airport Director of the Year. He is also a member of the board of the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce and the Durham Chamber of Commerce. Landguth is a North Carolina Airports Association 2016 President's Award recipient and previously served on the Governor's Aviation Development Task Force. In 2017, he was named CEO of the Year by the Triangle Business Journal
