Sunil Wadhwani is an entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist residing in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He co-founded, and till recently was Chairman and CEO of IGATE Corporation, which provides a broad range of Information Technology services. With over 34,000 employees on four continents, IGATE has been ranked among the world’s leading consulting firms. In 2015, IGATE was sold to Cap Gemini of France for over $4 billion. Under Sunil’s leadership as CEO, the Company was listed four times in Inc. Magazine’s ranking of the fastest-growing companies in the United States. It was also named among the “Top 100 Hot Growth” companies by Business Week and among the “Technology Fast 50” by Deloitte and Touche. In addition to IGATE, Sunil is the Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board of Mastech Corporation, a provider of high-value information technology services and solutions. Mastech is a publicly-traded company with over 1,500 employees. Sunil is an active angel investor. He has invested in over 30 early-stage technology companies and has served on the Boards of several of these ventures. These companies are in a variety of sectors including healthcare, life sciences, software, IT services, social media and financial services. Sunil has written articles for a variety of publications including Datamation, Systems Integrator and Reader’s Digest, and has been quoted in publications such as Business Week, the Wall Street Journal, Information Week and Investors Business Daily. Sunil established the non-profit WISH Foundation in India in 2014. WISH has developed a unique innovation-led model for transforming the primary healthcare system in the lowest income areas in India and other developing countries. This approach brings together the government, “best-in-class” private sector healthcare partners, and the most promising healthcare innovators. WISH is managing over 200 health centers in some of the poorest areas in India using this model and the initial results have been remarkable. Other developing countries are examining this model to see how it could be applied to help underserved communities in their regions. In 2018 Sunil and his brother Romesh Wadhwani launched the non-profit Wadhwani Institute for Artificial Intelligence (WadhwaniAI.org), with the goal of using AI to accelerate social development in the world’s most vulnerable communities in India and other emerging economies. The Institute develops and deploys AI-based solutions in domains such as education, public health, financial inclusion, agriculture and urban planning. Sunil serves or has served as a Trustee or Director of the following institutions: Carnegie-Mellon University, George Washington University, The U.S. Federal Reserve Bank (Pittsburgh Branch), United Way Worldwide, UPMC Health System, Allegheny Conference on Community Development, and Pittsburgh Cultural Trust. Sunil is a Distinguished Alumnus of the Indian Institute of Technology and has a Master’s degree from Carnegie-Mellon University.
