Overview

We are back with the 2nd session of fall season. This time it's a fireside chat with a seasoned Canadian VC - Alex Baker

Covid-19 has changed a lot of things for a lot of businesses, markets have shifted, several businesses got wiped out and new opportunities got created. One thing that changed in a big way is fundraising. For several months, most startups saw a complete freeze in funding activities for the pre-seed & seed stage in particular. Things have improved since, but have also changed significantly. Our next speaker is someone who could answer many of our questions and share perspective from the other side of the table.

Bio: Our speaker is Alex Baker - Alex is a Partner at Relay Ventures. Alex’s background in strategy and finance lend well to his roles overseeing Relay Ventures’ investments in a broad range of mobile platform and connected device companies. Prior to joining Relay Ventures, Alex worked as a management consultant with BearingPoint and PwC Consulting, specializing in retail banking, consumer and commercial credit card, and loyalty marketing solutions. Alex has managed large projects for some of the world’s most prominent financial institutions, including Visa, American Express, CIBC, Bank of America, BarclayCard and PayPal. Alex is a graduate from York University, Schulich School of Business and is a Kauffman Fellow. Alex is based in Relay's Toronto office.

Who is it for: Startup Founders and executives with an interest in early stage startups.
