“Accelerating Women Enterprises” Start-up Challenge 2022

The Sanjeevini-KSRLPS “Accelerating Women Enterprises” Start-up Challenge 2022 is a start-up competition which aims to encourage Start-ups to create innovative and relevant products and services for Sanjeevini – KSRLPS that may potentially develop into viable business ventures as well as solve social problems. This initiative is geared towards promoting the spirit of entrepreneurship among both SHGs and Start-ups and to ensure the creation of investible ideas in areas relevant to Sanjeevini-KSRLPS that will also expand the Start-up ecosystem in Karnataka. This will provide budding start- ups with various opportunities such as acquiring a funding proposal, building strategic partnerships or network with Government departments and receiving feedback from practitioners on enhancements that can be made on the presented start-up idea. NRLM will earmark a Challenge Fund for selected start-ups, that present potential projects that facilitate growth of Sanjeevini- KSRLPS in future.

TiE Bangalore is the Knowledge Partner for this initiative.

Program Details Eligibility criteria :

• The competition will be open to all registered Start-ups in Karnataka (registered with Karnataka Start-up Mission)

• An entity shall be considered as Start-up(s), which:

• Up to a period of seven years from the date of incorporation/ registration

• Turnover   of   the   entity   for   any    of    the    financial    years since incorporation/registration has not exceeded one crore rupees.

• Entity is working towards innovation, development or improvement of products or processes or services, or if it is a scalable business model with a high potential of employment generation among women.

• Participant agrees to notify Sanjeevini-KSRLPS and TiE if they have any relationship with Sanjeevini-KSRLPS and TiE that is either pre-existing or that develops prior to the judging of the Competition.

Themes for challenges:

• Sectoral: agriculture, food processing, animal husbandry, toys/art/crafts, green technology, and waste management, other alternative off-farm income generation models.

• Business Support/models: e-commerce, logistics, branding & merchandising, design, learning, enterprise management

Incentives:

• Selected top 3 Start-ups (Winners) will be provided with a Prize Money of INR 5 Lacs (including all applicable taxes) as part of promoting entrepreneurship and start-up eco system in Karnataka. The Start-ups that develop innovative and relevant products and services that may potentially develop into viable business ventures for SHG women as well as solve social problems or entrepreneurial challenges will be awarded the implementation of such projects under NRLM/NULM up to INR One Crore, subject to approval of MoRD/MoHUA.

• Government/Industry Visibility for selected top 10 Start-ups (Finalists) to share their business value proposition to Government/Industry and Industry partners along with networking opportunities.

• Selected top 10 Start-ups (Finalists) will be provided a free Associate Membership of TiE Bangalore for a period of 1 year and will access Mentorship opportunity from Technical & Leadership Experts of TiE, Bangalore

• Finalists may enter into business relationships with government departments/potential investors, at any time and at Participant’s sole discretion after the Grand Finale.

How to apply :

• Entries will be accepted up to June 16th, 2022 5:00 PM IST

• Each Participant must complete and submit a Competition application (Entry) of which the requirements and Submission Form are found on the application portal located on Sanjeevini-KSRLPS – TiE    website.

Selection process:

• Primary Competition is virtual. Primary Competition is expected to be held on Virtual Platform in June, 2022.

• Top 10 Finalists will be required to participate in the pitching session for Grand-Finale. (Attended by Government/Industry and Industry partners)

• Finalists and Winners will be selected based on the Jury’s (formed by Sanjeevini-KSRLPS and TiE) assessment of the following aspects of evaluation criteria:

• Innovativeness, Product-Market fit, Competitive Differentiation, Time tomarket advantage, Business Scale Potential.

• Solution (Competitive Advantage, Product-Market Fit, Business Model, Scalability)

• Readiness of Product/Prototype

• Team (Team Strength, Expertise of Founding Team), Team composition and ability to  execute  and  realize  their  business plan.

• Potential for success within the applicable market for the

Participant’s productor service.

• Sustainable development and tech-for-good impact on the applicable market

• Initially, a group of Participants (each a “Finalist,” collectively “Finalists”) will be selected by the Jury based on the criteria specified above.

• Members of Evaluation Panel/ Jury includes diverse group of highly experienced technologists, investors, academics and industry experts with experience and expertise in evaluating start-up companies, technology, products and services.

Terms & Conditions

• Sanjeevini –  KSRLPS  and  TiE  Bangalore  will  ensure  that  any  judging is conducted only by qualified individuals who do  not  have  a relationship with any of the participants.

• Participants agree that the decisions of the Jury are final and binding.

• Participants are solely responsible for any expenses incurred to participate in the Competition, including but not limited to any travel costs. Sanjeevini-KSRLPS and TiE or Competition Jury will have no responsibility for any Participant’s costs and expenses related to the Competition.

• Sanjeevini-KSRLPS and TiE will notify the Finalists by email, using the email address provided in the Entry. Notifications are expected to be sent to Winners in late June 2022. If a Finalist does not respond and provide the required confirmations within three (3) days of notification, is found ineligible, or does not comply with these Terms and Conditions, such Entry may be disqualified by Sanjeevini-KSRLPS and TiE, in its sole discretion, and the Competition Jury will select a replacement Winner.

Competition Entry :

• A Competition Entry will not:

• Infringe or otherwise violate the intellectual property rights of any third party, including copyrights, moral rights, patents, trademarks, design rights, trade secrets and rights of publicity;

• Disclose or rely upon the confidential or proprietary information of a third party without appropriate written permission;

• Contain libellous, defamatory, disparaging or unlawful content;

• Invade the privacy or right of publicity rights  of  any  person (living or deceased), or otherwise infringe upon a third party’s personal or proprietary rights;

• Violate any laws or regulations;

• Include sexually explicit subject matter;

• Depict or inspire violence, weapons or dangerous stunts;

• Depict discrimination, bigotry, harm or hatred;

• Depict or inspire tobacco or illicit drug usage;

• Promote activities that are illegal in the Participant’s  home country;

• Promote any political agenda;

The above list is not exhaustive. Sanjeevini-KSRLPS - TiE may disqualify any Entry if the Entry includes content that Sanjeevini- KSRLPS - TiE, in its sole discretion, deems unsuitable for this Competition. Sanjeevini-KSRLPS - TiE may reject or disqualify any

Entry at any time, in its sole discretion, without incurring any liability.

Each Participant represents and warrants that:

1. Its Entry is wholly original, factually accurate to the best of

Participant’s knowledge, and is Participant’s own creation;

1. It is the sole owner of all rights relating to its Entry, or has obtained all necessary rights, including all copyrights, moral rights, patents, trademarks, design rights, trade secrets, rights of publicity, and other relevant intellectual property rights for access to and use of the Entry by Sanjeevini-KSRLPS - TiE in connection with the Competition.

Ownership Claim

• Sanjeevini-KSRLPS - TiE do not claim ownership over the applications submitted or any new IP developed by the Participants during the Competition. However, by submitting an application, Participant grants the Sanjeevini-KSRLPS - TiE rights to publish Participants name or alias in connection with this Competition.

• Sanjeevini-KSRLPS - TiE agree to takeall steps reasonably necessary to protect the secrecy of the Confidential Information, and to prevent the Confidential Information from falling into the public domain or into the possession of unauthorized persons.
